Mission and Outreach Committee
Frozen Dinners The Mission and Outreach Committee has decided not to undertake the Souls Harbour dinner this year. Instead we are asking for donations of containers of frozen dinners that can be frozen and heated up easily. Possibly when you are making soup, or stew, or chilli, or something that can be frozen and heated up easily, you could make extra and freeze it for this project. These dinners can be frozen in margarine containers, or any container of a suitable size for an individual or family size meal, that you don't want back, and brought to the church, and given to a member of the Mission and Outreach Committee, Liz McQuarrie, Janet Clark, Sheila Fulton, Dianne Phillips, or Irene Cribbs. Once we have a good supply we will take it to Carmichael Outreach for distribution. Donations should be labelled with the content, and the date it was made. We anticipate that this will be an ongoing project. We are also asking for donations of margarine containers, or other suitable sized containers, with good lids. These will be kept at the church for people to help themselves to, fill with food and bring back to the church. A box will be set up in the Narthex by the Food Bank barrel.
The Mitts & Toques Project Thanks to all those who have donated yarn for the mitts and toques project. With the coming of the cold weather, there will soon be a need for knitted mitts and toques in Regina's schools. Many children come to school without, and their families do not have the means to purchase them. Please consider taking a ball or two of yarn and knitting up some children's mitts or a toque to help keep children warm this winter. Thanks to all those who have been knitting busily these last couple of years. CONTINUE... |
